One Step Closer!! Silvie Goes Onevia!!

I may have said this before but im really not a morning person, and i also hate the fact that when i actually get a morning to sleep in im awake at 7am and mornings that i cant sleep in well i tend to sleep in unless my alarm wakes me up.

Today i didnt really have to be out at my first job until 9:30 so i thought i would sleep into about 8:30 and go from there, the only thing though was today i didnt get woken up by my alarm going off i was actually woken up by the sound of a message (which is rare that i even heard it) so i rolled over to have a look and inside this message was the best motivational picture i had ever seen.

Im sure that some of you can guess what it was, it was that long awaited progress picture of Silvie!! and what a beautiful picture it is, She may not be all in one piece but the main body is all painted and the guards have been pulled and lipped a little. missing her front bar, lights, grill, corner indicators, skirts and rear bar it still fills me with joy knowing that she is all coming together and looking good.

Camo surely has done a good job so far and thats just by a picture and we all know that pictures do not do most things justice so im itching to see the finished product, So im going to be up and smashing this week out so it goes faster so i can get her back faster!

So here is the picture that i got from Camo this morning

The reason why im so excited about this is the fact that i have owned Silvie for around six years and from the time that i brought it till just a few weeks ago she was getting more and more... rough around the edges, and ive always wanted to have a repray just to freshen the look up and to put my own sort of touch on it ive had the money to do this twice now and both times other things have come up and i used the money for that.

Not this time as i put my foot down and said i would use the money for the intended purpose and its actually going ahead, so that's why im so excited about it.

That all said i thought that i would use this post also to show where it really began, well in regards to Silvie becoming a multi-coloured piglet that i grew to love more and more.

So i will lay blame to the people responsible for all this happening that would be Glenn, Scott, Rob and myself... well myself in a big way.

At one of the fortnightlys that we held at Harries dinner we all got to start talking about all the different cars that usually come and peoples personal touches they put on them, Rob talked about his last 180sx that he did a Sil-eighty conversion on and that now he had another 180sx that he would like to do it again.

Scotty and Glenn then got in my ear to do a onevia conversion (180sx front end on a Silvia) and so it happened, it all started one weekend that we thought we would do the conversion and also hold a party on the same night. We had actually planned on having the conversion done before the party started but that never happened as Rob rocked up later in the morning then planned so the conversion sort of become the center piece of the party while most of us were getting pretty drunk.

In this post i might actually post a picture and go into a little detail. (just to make it a little different)

Ok so to start with we have a before we start pictures of both cars
We Pretty much stripped our own cars, Rob his 180sx and myself I striped Silvie

The result was my front yard looking like so

So since Rob had to drive his as soon as possible we put all of his back together and got the head lights working and the end result was this

My old front end stayed on Robs car for a little while until it went onto another mates s13, story pretty much went that rob was gonna get his car reprayed and Deans S13 was the same colour as mine but the front end was in matte black so rob traded Dean for his front.

anyway back to Silvie, Now putting the body back together that was the easy part but wiring up the popup headlights was another thing.

Not one of my finer moments, i was quite hung over

Test drive to make sure nothing fell off!

Now i drove around with just the front bar for a week and in that time i had acquired some genuine Bomex Skirts and a copy Vertex rear bar, so the next weekend i grabbed some silver export paint and commenced painting the skirts with the help of my good mate Ron

Then fitted them in the rain, well once the paint was dry

From memory i think it took us a good three weeks to get around to fitting the rear bar.
Oh just on a side note between the manual conversion and the Onevia conversion i actually brought some rims and king springs to lower the car just for a side note that this happened before the whole fitment/hellaflush rage!! but i do wish now that they had better offset

Well that is it for this addition, Stay safe my friends.
